Threads of Possibilities

Erion knows better than to climb the sacred mountain. He does it anyway.

No one is ever going to choose him, trust him, or hand him the power he has spent his life being denied, so he goes after it himself. But by the time he reaches the caves beneath the GrowthPool, his plan is already unraveling. A Magbeast is hunting him through the dark, the mountain seems determined to swallow him whole, and every step forward feels like one he may not survive.

Then he finds the Seed.

The moment he touches it, the future splits apart. Erion sees death in a hundred forms—drowning, shattered bones, blood on stone and the few thin paths where he lives. For the first time in his life, survival is no longer a matter of luck. It is a matter of choice.

If he makes it off the mountain, the real danger begins. He can’t tell anyone what he took. He can’t let anyone discover what it can do. And the more he uses the Seed, the more tempting those futures become not the ones where he escapes, but the ones where no one can ever make him feel powerless again.

Because Erion did not climb the mountain to save anyone. He climbed it so he would never be helpless again.
